Now for my favorite part of the blog, the part where I get to talk about myself! Haha just kidding, I like helping you guys better (kind of).
As I said before, my name is Nick and I am a 20-year-old, 3rd year student at Stony Brook University. I am pursuing my Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry and a minor in Marine Science. I am currently on the pre-med track and as you may be able to tell I want to go into an area of medicine that deals with fitness and nutrition. While at school, I work two jobs, and am an active member of multiple clubs and organizations. I also currently have a 3.99 GPA. I tell you all this, so you know that I too am busy, but I have found ways to successfully stay organized and plan out my days to make sure I still find time to work out, hang out with friends, and have fun. If I can do it, you can do it too, and if you’re struggling with it right now, hopefully I can help you out.
Technically I have been lifting since I was a Freshman in High School (2014), but I didn’t get serious with it, where I started meal prepping and actually planning out my work outs, until senior year, 2017. So that makes about 3 years now of lifting, dieting, and overall fitness experience. I learned that I am an ectomorph, meaning my fast metabolism makes it difficult for me to put on weight including muscle. Because of this, I have struggled to find what exercises and diets work best for me to help me put on the weight I was looking for. It was no easy task and it included many failures, with no help from genetics, but throughout my journey I have discovered what does and what does not work for me.
I have also fallen for some “fitness trends” that turned out to be complete bullshit. Therefore, I’ve learned to try to seek out the most legit sources. Whether that be well known fitness websites, professional published research articles, or trusted friends and mentors that work out just as much, if not more than me. This way, you can be sure that all the information I am giving you is backed up by facts and can be trusted. I’ve learned my lessons the hard way, and now I want to help you to not make the same mistakes I made so that you can reach your goals faster!
My fitness journey is far from over but so far this is what I’ve accomplished; I went from a scrawny 130 pounds to a bulky 180 pounds, and now back down to a lean 160 pounds.
To balance my mind with my body, I started meditating last December 2019, and I have been trying to meditate every single day since then. I haven’t been perfect, but I have logged over 2300 minutes of meditation. I talk more about why I meditate and the benefits of it in the “Meditation” section of my blog posts.
This spring semester, I will finally have access to a full gym again (first time since last spring) and I will be beginning my first ever legitimate bulk! I will be (attempting) to eat 3200 calories a day and working out 5-times a week doing a Push-Pull-Legs-Upper-Lower split. Please join me as I not only share with you my journey but give you the tips and tricks you need to start a fitness journey of your own and start living the healthy life you deserve!
It would be so awkward if your friend read the newest blog before you! Don't let that happen. Sign up for email alerts and get notified as soon as a new blog is up!
A special thank you to all my friends and family who have not only supported me on my journey but have helped along the way. None of this would be possible without them. Remember to take time to appreciate those in your lives!
